Stirling Prize 2021: winner of AJ readers’ poll revealed

As tensions build ahead of the official Stirling Prize ceremony this evening (14 October), the AJ can reveal that more than a quarter (26 per cent) of the 426 readers who voted support the waterside gallery and boathouse.

In second place is Cambridge Central Mosque by Marks Barfield Architects, which received 20 per cent of votes – having already motored past the jetty museum to become bookmakers' favourite.

Stanton Williams and Groupwork are awarded third and fourth place respectively for the Key Worker Housing in Eddington and 15 Clerkenwell Close in Farringdon. Stanton Williams received 18 per cent of the vote, while Groupwork secured 15 per cent.

In last place is the Tintagel Castle Footbridge by Ney & Partners and William Matthews Associates. The Cornish crossing received just 10 per cent of the vote – a touch less than Grafton Architects’ Kingston University Town House, which gained 11 per cent of the vote.

The winner of the RIBA Stirling Prize 2021, which has been judged by a Norman Foster-led jury, will be announced around 8pm this evening during a ceremony in Coventry Cathedral.

The winners of the Stephen Lawrence Prize 2021 for small projects and the Neave Brown Prize 2021 for housing schemes are also set to be named at the event.
