New Architecture Writers, a free journalism programme for young people of colour, is recruiting for its 2022 cohort – with applications closing tomorrow (7 January)

The NAW initiative was founded in 2017 and focuses on emerging writers from backgrounds that are under-represented in design journalism and curation.

The programme has issued a call for its fourth cohort, open to aspiring writers of colour aged under 30 and based in London. More details on how to apply can be found here

The programme includes a series of evening workshops and talks, and offers mentoring from experienced journalists and editors. Participants have gone on to write for titles including the Architects’ Journal, the Architectural Review, Wallpaper, Icon, Vice and Frame.

Previous alumni founded the writing collective Afterparti, which publishes its own zine and has featured in the international design press.

NAW is run by Thomas Aquilina and Tom Wilkinson with the support of the Architecture Foundation and the Architectural Review, as well as a number of contributors from across journalism and design.

The advisory board is composed of Farshid Moussavi, Lesley Lokko, Adrian Lahoud, David Ogunmuyiwa and Priya Khanchandani.

The deadline for applications is tomorrow, Friday 7 January 2022 at 18:00 GMT.
